Perfect Golf Vacations

The perfect golf vacation is to be found at Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Mauna Kea is an expanse of dark green and light yellow-green grass that lies underneath the impossibly blue sky of Hawaii. The clouds line the edges of the horizon like a wall of sheep or pass overhead like filmy irregular sails that have come free of the sailboat and now drift through the sky no longer attached to a boat.

At the twelfth hole the white columns of the palm trees are silhouetted against the dark blue of the ocean. Soft white spots pass over the ocean as the waves crest and fall. Above is the light blue sky and underneath your feet is the green. The leaves of palm trees stretch up towards the sky and provide a cute folly to occasionally look at while the people you are playing golf with take their swing.

However it is the 3rd hole that is most famous at Mauna Kea. This par-three has turf grass that is freshly cropped and the steel-blue sea is only a few footsteps away. The salt air rushes into your nose and the wave’s crash upon the nearby rocks. There’s a tiny inlet of water which makes a water trap between you and another part of the green. To make it even more difficult there are tufts of bushes when you start on your side of the green is ready to catch your ball if you are unfortunate to swing too close to the water.

After the game there is the beach. At Mauna Kea beach you will find a golden crescent of coconut trees that look upon calm and guarded waters. The bay is filled with aquatic wildlife which can provide an interesting jaunt for the novice. When you go snorkeling you may see a sea turtle, or even a few manta rays near the black-lava points that guard the waters.

If you are on your perfect golf vacation with children then the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa makes an excellent home base for your vacation. They offer the Camp Hyatt program for kids which offer half-day and full-day camps for children. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa also has an excellent collection of swimming pools to explore and adventure is always available with their horse riding lessons, sand volleyball.

The Big Island of Hawaii also offers tourists helicopter tours, surfing lessons, luaus, and a rich history of an independent culture and proud peoples. Remember always to remove your shoes before entering someone’s house and to greet people with ‘Aloha’ while you are a guest at Hawaii.
